Cusack Gordon, Director of Leisure Sec plc, said of Litigation Solicitor Katie Roberts:
'I am involved in a particularly difficult industry in terms of the frequency and complexity of legal issues that go hand in hand with the licensed premises security industry.
Katie has assisted me on several occasions in dealing with a number of challenging cases. I have nothing but praise for her attention to detail and patience in presenting me with the various strategies available to me to resolve each problem, and explaining the various pitfalls and advantages of those strategies.
Along with the regular updates which we jokingly refer to as the 'Friday rendezvous', there is the detailed interim billing which lets me know how much I am paying and exactly what I am paying for. I much prefer this to a surprise bill at the end of a case which is the practice for many firms.
I have no doubt that Katie has a demanding array of cases to deal with at any given time, but throughout my dealing with her she has never failed to return a telephone call or an email, no matter how seemingly trivial my enquiry might be.
I have recently had the benefit of Katie’s support in a claim where her persistence and meticulous management of the case compelled the judge to award in my favour.
There is no doubt in my mind that the success of that particular case was due to Katie’s 'tick every box' style of working.
It is comforting to know that, no matter what life throws at me, I can rely upon the support of Katie and her colleagues at Pickerings to provide me with the best possible legal advice at competitive rates.
I would not hesitate to recommend Katie and Pickerings to anyone in need of genuinely friendly and efficient legal advice.'
Pickerings' Commercial Team managed the sale of Ventura Park Volkswagen in Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield. Craig Davies led the deal, with Sue Albini handling the property elements. Commenting on the team's skill in holding the deal together in this difficult economic climate, Paddy Downton, one of the vendors, said:
'Can I just thank you formally for your sterling efforts on our behalf. Not only did you have to put up with interminable delays, but you pulled the deal back from the brink! May I compliment you both on your total professionalism.'
Pickerings’ Commercial Team recently handled the sale of the entire issued share capital of Shearer (Mormet) Ltd, acting on behalf of the four exiting shareholders. Shearer (Mormet) Ltd operate in the recycling of scrap metals and metal alloys, with a turnover in excess of £12 million.
The transaction was complicated by the fact that the company was Scottish registered and held property in Scotland, which involved cross referral with Scottish-based lawyers.
Craig Davies, Head of the Corporate & Commercial Team led the deal, with property advice being provided by Sue Albini and employment advice by Simon King.
On the successful completion of the deal and the shareholder’s decision to choose Pickerings Solicitors LLP to advise them, Phil Hollins, one of the selling shareholders, commented:
‘The work was carried out in a sympathetic, friendly manner and with the highest degree of professional integrity. Craig, Sue and the Commercial Team did a fantastic job. In a transaction like this, it helps to get to know the people who are acting for you and to feel that they treat you as an individual. They treated me as a valued client, and provided a service tailored exactly to our needs, updating me at every step of the way. I would be happy to use Pickerings again for any other legal issues that come up in the future.’
