Simon King retires after 42 years at Pickerings

Tamworth Solicitor Simon King will retire from Pickerings Solicitors at the end of May 2020, having spent his 42 year legal career at the firm.
A stalwart of the legal profession, Simon has seen the firm go from strength to strength since he joined in 1978. Having initially practised criminal law, over the years he progressed into employment and litigation and, for the last 12 years, has led the firm as Chief Executive.
Under his leadership, the firm has won national awards, achieved professional recognition with Lexcel and CQS accreditation and become the only firm in Tamworth to be listed in The Legal 500.
In recent years he has also enjoyed writing a regular legal column for the Tamworth Herald.
Sue Hatton will take over as Managing Director from 1st June, taking responsibility for the operations and performance of the business.
Sue said: “Pickerings has been a real success story with Simon at the helm and I Iook continuing this by leading our future strategy. Client service will be at the forefront of our plans, whilst also focussing on becoming one of the best legal employers in the Midlands.”
Simon commented: One of my few regrets is that as well as causing untold misery the pandemic has deprived me of an opportunity to say farewell to the many friends I have made whether as colleagues, clients, professionals, businessmen and women, neighbours or acquaintances. I wish you all well.  One day we shall be able to shake hands, embrace and maybe raise a glass together.
