Hannah Naughton

Solicitor - Children Law

Hannah Naughton joined Pickerings in 2018 and qualified as a solicitor in 2022. Hannah is a Solicitor within the Children Law department, who regularly represents parents and other family members involved in public and private law proceedings.

Hannah offers varied advice to clients engaged in a broad spectrum of Children Law matters. Her case load has included complex public and private law proceedings including cases concerning extreme sexual harm, inter-sibling sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect, psychological abuse, drug use and alcohol abuse. She also assisted on a reported case in the High Court which concerned the death of a child within the family home. She played an instrumental part in liaising with medical experts and collating large volumes of evidence, in order to assist with a Finding of Fact Hearing.

In May 2023, Hannah was instructed on an exceptionally complex case, representing a client who faced difficulties in his cognitive abilities.  She has received recognition from leading and junior counsel, who have stated that “Hannah has discharged her role with outstanding commitment to the client, she has also shown an understanding of the nuances of this kind of work that has been simply outstanding and had a direct and significant contribution on the successful resolution of matters on behalf of the client.  She is a considerable asset to the firm”.

Their acknowledgement further underscores the calibre of our services and is a notable endorsement to the Hannah and the firm's expertise.

Hannah is a motivated and hard-working solicitor, who will provide her clients with sensible advice, regardless of whether this is what they would ‘like to hear’. She will consider her client’s matters from different perspectives, in order to highlight to them the positives and pitfalls of their case. Hannah is able to build a good rapport with clients and other professionals in order work together to achieve the best outcome possible.

Hannah regularly carries out her own advocacy, however she will also instruct counsel when appropriate.

Testimonials

'Hannah has supported my family from July '24 until a resolution was reached in December '24. I couldn't be happier with the quality of her work and the overwhelming dedication she showed this case. Every phone call was picked up, every email responded to in a timely manner, she was highly proactive in chasing issues and prevented a number of critical mistakes from the Local Authority slipping through the net.

She was consistently respectful and seemingly never judged me or my family, despite the seriousness of the initial allegation posed against us. In the emotionally charged realm of the family courts, her calm confidence and overwhelming knowledge of her craft made me feel reassured that I was in the very best hands. She swiftly appointed fantastic representation, recognising how important this would be and ensured my case benefited from the long-term continuity it required. Nothing was left to chance and whilst she could not control the outcome on the day, I felt confident she had done everything in her power to make the desired outcome possible for us.

I am told my case, was exceptionally serious and in all likelihood was going to end badly. Without Hannah, I genuinely believe this would of been the case. Due to various external factors, many aspects of my case were highly unconventional. Despite this Hannah was unfazed and showed exceptional pragmatism and dynamic problem solving skills.

I haven't been an easy customer, dedicating myself full time to resolving this matter. I've been belligerent, strong-minded and emotionally charged. Despite this, she has been amazingly forbearing and proved to be a key unbiased lifeline and calming influence. My wife and I are now reunited with our Son and have the future to look forward to, we got our chance at a happily ever after.

I will forever be in her debt; she is a credit to herself and your organisation. I will always be grateful to of had her unwavering passion and support in the darkest days of my life.'

Hannah has been on top of this case from day one, her knowledge of the proceedings has been second to none.  She has spent many necessary hours with the client, making sure they understand everything.  The case was presented as fully as possible which made our task of presenting the case in Court, so much easier.  Hannah has done all this with grace, realism, and a much needed sense of humour.  It has been an absolute pleasure working with her.  She is a credit to your firm.
