Marie Tisdale is an accomplished Wills and Probate solicitor based in Staffordshire, who joined Pickerings in July 2020. Having qualified as a solicitor in 1996, she initially practiced family law before specialising in Wills and Probate from 2004.
Holder of a STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) diploma, Marie has been consistently recognised in The Legal 500 since 2011, holding a Tier 3 position, where she has been recognised for her particular expertise in planning for agricultural estates as well as her wider private client experience. Her expertise spans all aspects of private client law, and she has guided numerous individuals and families in planning for the future through Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax Planning, and Powers of Attorney.
Marie's extensive experience extends to handling high-value and complex probate work, delivering clear explanations of the process. During the course of the last year she advised on a number of complex estates with assets varying from farmlands to preference shares and encompassing various gifts. In these complex matters she is particularly skilled in identifying the issues and explaining them in layman's terms to beneficiaries who often do not have an understanding of the implication of how the assets are held.
Her early litigation experience stands her in good stead allowing her to identify potential issues and possible courses of action at an early stage in the matter. She is particularly skilled in handling beneficiaries with competing priorities.
Marie is experienced in dealing with agricultural estates and the issues which arise from them. Known for her practical and caring approach, Marie enjoys advising elderly clients, fostering close relationships with them and their families.
Formerly a Director at Ansons Solicitors, Marie brings a wealth of experience to the team and is actively involved in her local community, regularly receiving work through personal recommendations. She is able to help clients reach their estate planning goals and break down complex issues into simple, easy-to-understand advice.

Outside of work
Deeply rooted in Staffordshire, Marie was born and bought up in the Burntwood area and has lived there all of her life, apart from a brief spell away at University. As a student she worked at St Matthews Hospital Psychiatric Hospital during a gap year and holidays, which gave her an understanding of working with the elderly and mental illness. She also worked for her parents who have nursing homes in the Burntwood area, once again with the elderly and mentally ill.
Marie has always been passionate about her local community. Her family have long established links with St Matthews Sports and Social Club and have actively fund-raised for the sleepover club at Saxon Hill School, Lichfield.
Over the years she has been involved with many local charities, having sat on the board of a local women’s refuge charity, on the PTA for Lichfield Cathedral School and she was the clerk for several long-standing Lichfield based charities for a number of years.
She currently sits on the committee which runs the village hall in Chorley and is the Vice Chair of the Chorley, Farewell and Elmhurst Parish Council…
..and in her spare time Marie is a fitness fanatic.
